Sometimes I wait at the bottom of those dark stairs, I sit at the bottom of the stairs, I wait beyond the bottom of the stairs and listen to the sounds my wife and children make as they sleep, the sounds our animals make as they step carefully through our dreams and out the other side to polished floor and cold window. Sometimes I wait so long I become unsure if I am asleep, or awake, or dead. Steve Rasnic Tem
About This Quote

Sometimes I wait at the bottom of those dark stairs, I sit at the bottom of the stairs, I wait beyond the bottom of the stairs and listen to the sounds my wife and children make as they sleep, the sounds our animals make as they step carefully through our dreams and out the other side to polished floor and cold window. Sometimes I wait so long I become unsure if I am asleep, or awake, or dead. This is a letter written by a man who has lost his wife and children in a tragic accident. He was unable to process those devastating events and as such he stayed dazed and confused for quite some time.

However, as he continued to live life he found that his strength came from those moments when he stopped and fell down. He found that each time he fell down, he got back up again and again and again. He found that after each fall he was able to find something to stand on and move forward.
